Today’s women are saying “YES” to a host of home based business opportunities and rightfully so! So many to choose from, so little time to get that well needed research that is required before you take the plunge.
If I was your “genie” I would tell you to hit that pause button and search yourself. Find out which one of these opportunities fit your personality. Which one connects to your current schedule? What is the structure of their compensation program? Is it recruitment driven or sales driven? Which one requires a large inventory holding? Which one …? Which one …? Which one …?
Just recently one of my international clients asked me that “genie” question. She said Betty, what type of marketing would you do if you were an Avon Representative? Here are some of the things that I shared with her:
If I was an Avon Representative, I would strive to be the best consultant in the world and I would set my sales goal to a minimum of $5416 monthly (on a part time basis = 65,000 annually). This would mean $1354 weekly sales.
First, I would create a Sales and Marketing Planner with a (12 months projection).
Secondly, I would set up a Marketing budget to cover my projected (estimated) marketing expenses as follows:
Brochures – 100 monthly @ $2 per brochure =$200 monthly x 12 = $2,400
Postcards – 200 monthly@ $1.99 per card = $398 x 12 = $4,776
Postage – 200 stamps @.45 cents per card =$90 x 12 = $1,080
Cold Calling - $200 monthly x 12 = 2,400
200 lipsticks/nail polish monthly @ $2.00 = $400 monthly x12 = $4,800
Postage for lipsticks/nail polish @$1.99 x 12 months= $4.776
Ad in community newspaper $25 per month x 12 months =$300
Online Presence (website etc.) $30 monthly x 12 months=$360
Miscellaneous expenses $100 monthly x 12 months=$1,200
Total (Projected/Estimated) Marketing Expenses$22,092.
